Start time 7.15 ish
These lectures are open to all players from Durham and Cleveland i would like as many players as possable to attend.

Glad to see another club taking over from The Griffin this summer. Well done Bill.
These were definitely the most popular summer events that we ran at The Griffin. Most people weren't to keen to play in a tournament, but a lot seemed to relish the opportunity to gen up on a bit of theory, in preparation for next season.
I'll definitely try and get down to Darlington myself as I really enjoyed Norman's and Dave's previous talks. My game badly needs it too!
Decided to have a break from organising summer events at the club this year. The congress kept me pretty busy though instead  Wink

Norman will be printing something up for the lectures and he would like to have a idea of how many people are going to attend.

Many thanks to Norman and Bill (for arranging it all) for last night's interesting lecture. Norman demonstrated the technique of advancing pawns to open up lines of attack. I was hooked  Wink ! Hooked enough to try and attend again in two weeks time.
I believe Norman is open to suggestions of topics to discuss next time. Maybe this forum could be used to see what people's thoughts are?

I would like to thank Norman for last night instructive lecture it was a real eyeopener as to how stronger players think.
I would also like to thank everybody that attended especially the people that travelled down from the Peterlee chess club and the Griffin chess club.
I think everybody enjoyed the lecture last night as it was a very proactive lecture Norman got the oudiance involved as much as possable.
The best thing for me last night was seeing two Junior players in attendance i hope Colins daughter and Nial learned something from the lecture.

I hope you can all attend the next lecture it would be nice to see somemore players from other clubs attending.

As Brian has already stated in him post if anybody has anything they would like to see Norman do a lecture on please post here or contact myself

Fantastic night whereby everyone in attendance would have learnt a great deal to take back home and apply the ideas in their own games. People should really make an effort to get to any of Normans lectures, in a few hours you can absorb and retain more information than weeks and weeks of studying alone. Thanks Norman, we all really enjoyed it. Thanks Bill and Darlington club for organising it too!

Just a reminder about next weeks lecture
There will be two subjects covered in the lecture.
How to keep the inititive when you have got it following on from that is how to win a won game that is part 1
Part two is what to do in cramped positions or positions where the opponent has all the space.

I think these are two subjects that will intrest all players.

Hope to see plenty of you there next Monday 7.15 start

Same here I was disappointed I couldn't make it. This is exactly the sort of thing we should have more of.

Well done Bill and Dave.

Darlo and the Griffin showing us the way forward.
