Quote from billyboy62 on Apr 18th, 2010, 12:16pm:John Turnock is NCCU president i have just received him report i asked him to do 1 thing with Clevelands votes and he did so that was to vote against the Junior MO fees increase he won a small battle and got them for £7.50 and not the £8.00 the ECF wanted
Thanks for the feedback Billy and for the clarification around percentages. It sounds like the ECF office seems to be the big white elephant and that's no disrespect to the people who work there either who have always seemed fairly reasonable nice people whenever I've had to contact them (around 3 times in my whole Chess life!).
Chess politics doesn't take up a lot of my time but I do find the makeup of the ECF expenditure interesting especially in this climate.
Its not the percentages of the increases that rile me here, its the reason(s) the ECF believe it should go up. As some of us are aware there are still many uncommunicative people high up in the ECF hierarchy and they don't seem to think that "normal" chess players need to know how this money is spent, and most players aren't bothered but I'm one of the "sad" few that thinks expenditure of our National Body should be scrutinised and spent wisely as I don't think a fair deal of it is done so.
